Where do you usually get your ideas from? Some of mine came from dreams, but most were just random events that occurred. Let me list a couple of examples:
1. Walking along, saw a cat. (xD) 2. Tanning on the beach, imagined two dragons playing in the lake.
Those are a couple. What about you? How are you usually inspired?

I get a lot of inspiration from music. Almost anything powerful and orchestral will give me a flood of ideas, and I'll write them down like a list and edit later.
Also, I find much inspiration in eyes, for some reason. Some people's eyes will just give me great ideas, even my cat's. xD
I think everyone draws ideas from different reasons. It just happens. If I'm feeling really creative and upbeat, a crack in the wall can give me ideas, of all things!

What usually comes first for you? Characters, setting, plot? I usually envision my characters first. Then everything else follows suit. It's an interesting process. xD

It depends on the story, but I usually think of random scenes at some point, sometimes not even making sense. I make sense of them, brainstorm a lot, and then I fit the scenes to a plot and setting, and add in characters.
And, even though I'm pretty bad at sketching, it does help to make up ideas. What's that...a random person on the street? Sketch 'em. See what comes of it. Maybe you'll get ideas, and if not, ditch the sketch and start again with another subject.
It's a very interesting process, because everyone's unique!

I agree!! Uniqueness marks our personality. I usually get inspiration when I sit to write, I can find inspiration easily. But mostly I give myself warm up exercise, it often get my inspiration thinking.

Most of my inspirations come from my experiences when I travel. Some of them are from music but I try not to use these inspirations too much cos I feel it is a second-hand plot/idea since the song artists were the ones who had the same idea first.
I also get my inspiration from my mother and my cousin who are the two most important people in my life. Most of my stories, poems and songs are about or for them. To me, they are the most important sources of my inspiration and happiness.

Well, I usually get my inspiration from other books. When I read something my mind wanders to what is going to happen next, and sometimes mixes several books together. And then I write it down, change it a lot, and then there's a story.
If I hit a road block in my story development, then I usually start looking around and look for things around me that could work in the story, such as couple walking by holding hands could mean a twist in that something romantic comes about, or a fight occurs (because with every good couple fights come a long with it), or maybe I think of how the two of them could be secret agents or something cheesy like that, and slowly meld it into what I want.

You're so lucky! You can actually get ideas like that? I've tried it before, but it never seems to work. Only my random ideas are usable. D:
