Well I am writing a story where some of my characters go through this trial where they have to face their greatest fears, and I don't know what my main character would fear the most, especially now. At the beginning it was easy, as Vance's fear was his adoptive father blaming Vance for the his death, but he's changed a lot. Here's a bit about him:
Name: Vance Blake
Vance is a strong individual who has multiple personalities that are always awake because of an incident when he was little (might sound lame, but it's better in the story). He's been through betrayal, hatred, being lied to, being captured by enemies, friendship, and kindness. He forgave the ones who lied to him, and hates the man who framed his parents, who lied to the whole city/town about framing Vance's parents. Vance thought he was dead at a point, since he was technically 'killed' and arrived in an unknown place. He is friends with his teachers, and those of his age, as well as one older kid. The thing most important to him is driving out the man who framed his parents out of the city/town, but he knows he's too weak at the moment.
If you need more information I've got it, but I just can't think of what his fear would be, seeing as he's been through betrayal and thinking he was going to die. I suppose he could still fear those two, but what do you guys think?

I also think the same way, having him to be scare of reason to die. This phobia. It will propel him into story as it based on his fear.

I'm just about the worst writer out there xD But, perhaps he could fear being alone? As in, eternally alone. In my favorite TV show, the villain feared dying alone and not being missed or loved (it was kinda depressing from his point of view).
Orrr, as I said, my ideas are worse than dirt. Maybe you could research uncommon (or common if you please) phobias? There are "Psychological phobias", where people may fear something that is either impossible or impractical, but they still fear it all their lives.
Hope I might've helped, and good luck with your book! ;D

I love both of the ideas from Tzwee and Ravenous. I would probably not really go with the fear of dying alone, because he's pretty much lived his life alone and is used to it almost. But it still would be an interesting twist in his character. I was wondering what you all think of the fear of him being controlled by one of the 'personalities' that are in him and might be able to take over, one including a very evil side.
